Welcome to My Home

Welcome! I plan on sharing home decor and projects from around the house, so I figured this would be the best place to start! We bought our house in May of 2018. This is the first home we have owned and we are slowly making it our own. It was built in 2013, so it’s not old, but everything is just builder grade. It’s 2,112 square feet, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath. We basically just want our house to have a more custom look and feel; think light, bright and airy, while also feeling warm and cozy. And we have to accomplish this on a budget! This means lots of DIY!

We’ve done a lot of generic “updates” around the house like painting, but there are still so many things I want to change. The house is verrrry far from where we want it to be. So I figured I would start by showing you what we have done so far. First up – the half bath! The smallest and easiest space to tackle. I know, not the most exciting place to start. But hey, baby steps!

When we closed on the house – May 2018 (I was about 4 1/2 months pregnant.)

Ok, so this project was essentially my grandparents fault. It all started when they gave me a mirror for Christmas last year (2019) that I had wanted to put up in that bathroom in place of the builder grade oval mirror. So Marcus and I go in to take down that mirror and put up the new one and I’m like, well before we put this up, we should probably paint. And that’s just what we did. We got Behr paint in the color Mineral. (Color inspired by The Glam Farmhouse – She’s one of my favorite bloggers.) Then Marcus tells me he doesn’t like pedestal sinks, and I’m like, “Yeah, I hate them too.” So what do we do? We rip out the pedestal sink and go pick up a vanity from Home Depot! We wanted something with a little storage for extra toilet paper rolls and what not. We also replaced all of the hardware and added those cute shelves. I still have a few decor pieces I want to add to this space, but overall, it now looks like a custom bathroom instead of the boring ol’ fixtures that came with the house! I’ll link everything I can below. Here’s a look at before and after!
